Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2, 2026

1. Introduction

MarketBasketAnalysis.com (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates this website and the Market Basket Analysis software module. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit our website or use our services.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

  • Contact information: Name, email address, and company name when you fill out a contact form or request access.
  • Usage data: Pages visited, time spent on pages, and referring URLs collected via analytics tools.
  • Technical data: Browser type, device type, IP address, and operating system.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to your inquiries and provide requested services.
  • To improve our website and product experience.
  • To send relevant product updates (only if you opt in).
  • To comply with legal obligations.

4. Analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how visitors interact with our site. We may use tools such as Vercel Analytics or similar services. These tools collect anonymized usage data and do not use cookies for tracking purposes. No personally identifiable information is shared with analytics providers.

5. Data Processing in the Software Module

The Market Basket Analysis extensions (Magento module, WooCommerce plugin) process order data locally within your own store environment. Mining, scoring, and rule storage happen entirely inside your infrastructure. We do not receive, store, or relay your order data on either the free tier or the paid Plus plan.

AI features are bring-your-own-key. When you enable Plus AI features (the ai_catalogmining engine, AI-generated bundle copy, or session-intent classification), the extension calls your chosen LLM provider, Anthropic or OpenAI, directly from your store, using a key you configure in the module's settings. Your order data, catalog data, and prompts travel from your store to your provider account. They do not pass through MarketBasketAnalysis servers. You retain the direct billing and data-processing relationship with your LLM provider.

The Hosted Engine is a separately contracted deployment for merchants who explicitly want us to run managed mining infrastructure or, on request, manage the LLM provider key on their behalf. Data flow on that deployment is documented in the per-customer Data Processing Addendum.

Detailed architecture: where mining runs per platform, what we never see, and the Article 28 processor relationship, with a named sub-processor list and per-platform residency table.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information with service providers who assist in operating our website, provided they agree to keep your information confidential.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy. Contact form submissions are retained for up to 24 months unless you request earlier deletion.

Shopify-hosted app data. For merchants who install the Market Basket Analysis Shopify app, the data we store on our infrastructure is limited to: shop domain, OAuth access token, app configuration, mining rules + opportunities derived from your orders, and operational logs. Per-customer or per-buyer personal information is never persisted on our servers; the mining pipeline reads order line items only.

Retention on uninstall. When you uninstall the Shopify app, we honor Shopify's mandatory customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact webhooks. Shop-level data (rules, opportunities, settings, logs) is deleted within 48 hours of the shop/redactwebhook firing, which Shopify sends 48 hours after uninstall. Per-customer redaction requests (rare, since we don't store per-customer data) are acknowledged and processed within the same 48-hour window.

Self-hosted modules. For the Magento module and WooCommerce plugin, all data storage happens inside your own store database. We do not hold a copy. Uninstall the plugin and the data is gone with it, on whatever schedule your own platform's uninstall behavior dictates.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, please contact us at the email address provided on our Contact page.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
